Increase your self-awareness with one simple fix
This TED talk coincided with the publication of Tania's book, Insight.
Actionable insights
Traditional introspection, which involves questioning our thoughts and feelings, often leads to stress and depression. Reframing introspection to focus on objective analysis and questions is more effective.
And when it comes to those questions, asking "Why?" often leads to unproductive introspection and negative outcomes. Instead, asking "What?" helps focus on actionable steps and understanding situations better. For example, instead of "Why am I upset?" ask "What can I do to improve this situation?". Or instead of "Why do I feel so terrible?" ask "What are the situations that make me feel terrible, and what do they have in common?".
Embrace the belief that self-awareness is crucial and commit to developing it daily. This continuous pursuit of self-awareness helps in personal growth and overcoming life's challenges. Self-awareness includes understanding how others see us; and so we should regularly seek and consider feedback from trusted individuals to gain a more accurate self-perception.
